After a few years of stagnation, Swiss exports to China finally increased again in 2017. Swiss companies exported goods worth 16.7 billion Swiss francs to the country, a plus of 13.8 percent compared to the previous year.
The biggest gains have been made by the watch and precision instruments industry, which, after a stagnation since 2015, increased its exports by 14 percent. The chemical and pharmaceutical industry as well as the machinery industry grew by 13 percent.
China currently is Switzerland’s biggest export market in Asia and the third biggest worldwide (the biggest one is Germany, US comes second).
