The Chinese online retail giant JD.com has big plans in Europe and wants to be ubiquitous on the continent by 2019. The first step will be the launch of an e-commerce platform and delivery service in France. After that, the company will move to the UK and Gemany. In France, JD plans to set up a 1.2 billion euro logistic network, the company will also launch its first European research center in Cambridge in the first half of 2019. It will focus on artificial intelligence and big data.
With this move, JD is competing with Amazon, which invested about 15 billion euro in Europe since 2010.
