Medela, a leading manufacturer of breastfeeding products, plans to open a new plant in the Changzhou National Hi-Tech District (CND), the new plant will manufacture for the Chinese market. In the beginning, it shall be used as a production facility for milk pumps, but later also serve as business center in this region. China is currently Medela’s second biggest market and increasingly important.
The company Medela was founded in 1961 and is based in Baar, Switzerland. It evolved from a small family company into a leading manufacturer of breastfeeding products and medical vacuum technology, serving customers worldwide.
Swiss companies wanting to open a production in the Yangtze River Delta, often choose the Changzhou National Hi-Tech District. The CND has connections to Switzerland since a longer period of time and so far 14 companies from Switzerland use it as their operating site, for example Mettler Toledo and GF Machining Solutions.
