Any foreigners with high-end skills that are in an urgent demand in China can now apply for the talent visa (R visa). The visa is valid from five to ten years, has multiple entries and will permit foreigners to stay in the country for up to 180 days at a time. Children and spouse of the visa holder are also eligible for it.
This new visa policy aims at bringing more foreign specialists to China, especially in the science and technology sector. R visas will for example be given to scientists, international entrepreneurs, leading talents in science and technology, experts and high-skilled professionals with abilities that are sought by the market.
