Mobile bikes from companies such as Ofo or Mobike have become very popular in China and Chinese cities are filled with them. Unfortunately, even though people seem to love the bikes, they don’t really treat them with love. There is a lot of vandalism, many bikes are damaged, destroyed or also left at the wrong places, for example roadways, rivers and even in front of an emergency lane.
But now things are changing: Mobike announced that they will adapt their social credit system and introduce heavier punishment for those who mistreat their bikes. Users will receive a score from 0-1000 based on their behavior. Good behavior, such as well-behaved riding or even reporting mobile bike violations of others, will increase your points. Bad behavior, such as vandalism, theft or parking your bikes at the completely wrong places will decrease your score.
High scores will give you many perks, if you are a well-behaving driver with over 500 points, you will for example receive early access to app features and even rewards in cash. A score between 300-500 is already critical, your riding prices double, your locked out of several features and can forget many discounts. The very sad individuals reaching a score below 300 are in trouble as riding will be 100 times! more expensive for them. The scores are evaluated on a monthly basis.
