A team from the Chinese academy of sciences claimed that they designed a hypersonic jet that is able to travel at 6,000 km/h, which means it could travel from Beijing to New York in only 2 hours (currently it takes around 14 hours), it would be almost three times as fast as the Concorde. A test with a scaled-down model has been done in a wind tunnel, it was able to reach a speed of 8,600 km/h.
