According to Dr. Renate Schubert, a professor at ETH Zürich and one of the best Switzerland experts, Switzerland should neither side with the US nor with China during the growing conflict between the two powers. Decoupling from China, like it is suggested by the US, would further increase the already high prices for consumer goods, and fully siding with one power could lead to retaliatory measures by the unsuccessful side. By staying neutral, Switzerland might even be able to act as a mediator between the two sides.
