The rail service provider Schweizerzug and RTSB will connect Switzerland and China by rail once a week, beginning 1st April 2020. The offer for maritime containers applies to Frenkendorf near Basel and Niederglatt near Zurich and serves Xian in Shaanxi province and Hefei in Anhui province. Trains will need 15 days to reach Xian and 18 days to reach Hefei, which is about twice as fast as the transport by sea ship.
