According to the Swiss ambassador to China, Mr. Bernardino Regazzoni, more Chinese tourists than ever visited Switzerland in 2018. Chinese visitors accounted for 1.73 million nights, which is an increase by 6 percent compared to 2017.
Winter travel, in particular, has seen a significant boost: between November 2017 and April 2018, Chinese tourists stayed for more than 500,000 nights, an increase by 8.4 percent compared to the year before. Due to the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, there is an increasing demand for winter sport in China.
Besides winter sport, outdoor activities, such as trekking, are also popular.
In addition, one habit of Chinese tourists is changing; they increasingly prefer to travel by themselves, instead of joining any groups.
