The China International Import Expo (CIIE) will take place from November 5 to 10. It’s China’s first global import expo and it is part of an effort to shift China towards a growth model which is more based on domestic consumption.
The CIIE will be a chance for foreign companies to present their products and services. So far, 1,022 companies applied and 61 countries agreed to participate, It’s expected that there will be around 150,000 buyers. The expo can be a springboard for foreign companies planning to further enter the Chinese market. Several of China’s biggest e-commerce firm will attend the event, which will help foreign firms reach Chinese customers. The expo will only last for 6 days, but the Chinese government plans to turn it into a “6+365” model to boost imports over the whole year.
Switzerland will also participate in the CIIE, companies such as Nestle, Migros, ABB and Victorinox already confirmed their participation.
